Two Ways of Structuring Your Organization

Organizations with multiple programs and/or services may choose between two different options when structuring their IRIS profile. Consider which organizational structure will best serve your workflow needs.

The graphics in the example below illustrate the options for a health department which will make and receive referrals through IRIS for their Family Planning, Immunization, and WIC programs.

Option A: One Organization in IRIS

Health Department

  • Family Planning
  • Immunizations
  • WIC

This structure may work best when:

  • The staff members using IRIS can process referrals for all programs/services.
  • There is overlap between services and/or eligibility requirements between programs.

Option B: Multiple Organizations in IRIS

Health Department:
Family Planning
Health Department:
Immunizations
Health Department:
WIC

This structure may work best when:

  • Different staff process referrals for each program.
  • The services provided are unique to each program.
  • There are separate eligibility requirements for each program.

Users can request switch access in order to access more than one organization if needed.
